The Man Behind Wentworth Woodworking
Robie Wentworth is a Kennebunk native who has been swinging a hammer since he could walk. Specializing in custom woodworking designs, Robie and his team hand craft masterful pieces from custom kitchens, tables, bookcases, office spaces, and more that have amazed each client who has his work featured in their home. He takes customer’s visions and dreams and turns them into beautiful works of art.
From Timber Frame Homes to Custom Furniture
Robie’s love of woodworking started at a very young age while living in Kennebunk and Bethel, Maine. His father was a timber frame home builder who took Robie under his wing. While learning from his dad, Robie soon discovered that timber frame building and furniture building wasn’t so different. Each joint must be strong and tight in both styles of woodworking and attention to detail is crucial. Learning all the principles of woodworking as a child fostered his love for the art all the way through college. Robie attended Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont where he studied Graphic Design. Every time he had a break from school, he would return home to woodworking with his father. Soon he realized that sitting in front of a computer wasn’t for him and returned to the trade that he loved.
Robie moved to Syracuse, New York where he worked for a highly renowned cabinet shop for seven years. There Robie learned that wood furniture making was his passion. While with the company, Robie honed all the skills that he had learned over the years from his dad and soon became a master woodworker. Robie took all the knowledge he gained while in New York and returned to Maine where he settled in Bethel and established Wentworth Woodworking.
Husband and Wife Working Hand In Hand
Robie now resides in Bethel, Maine with his wife and son. Robie often collaborates with his wife, Mary Ann, to bring client’s vision of home into reality. Mary Ann is a realtor in Bethel, ME and helps people find properties that will become their dream home. Robie works with homeowners to make their visions of home into reality.
Wentworth Woodworking continues to flourish and take on more and more custom projects. One of Robie's favorite thing to do is, “take an old kitchen and turn it into something the customer really loves. Designing their dream kitchen then turning those dreams into a reality is something that I love to do.” Robie and his team pride themselves on being innovative and hard-working and hopes customers love the quality and creativity in their work.
